An excursion in good taste

On the edge of the famous town of Volendam, our team at Cheese Farm the Alida Hoeve, dressed in the original Volendam costumes, is ready to welcome you every day. (The Alida Hoeve Cheese Farm is the only Cheese Farm located in Edam - Volendam). At our farmstead, we provide a professional demonstration on the production of cheese and how wooden shoes are made. Using the necessary equipment and a clear explanation offered in multiple languages (Dutch, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish or Czech) we help you will experience the cheese maker’s craft from milk to finished product and the wooden shoemaker’s trade from a block of wood to a wooden clog.

In addition to the world-famous Edam and Gouda cheese, Henri Willig also makes sheep and goat cheese. Our cheeses are plain or flavoured with various herbs such as cumin, pepper, fenugreek or chilli pepper. After the demonstration, guests are welcome to sample the unique flavours of our cheese products and to further explore and enjoy the ambiance of our farmstead at their leisure.



Tour operators may bring their bussed groups by for a scheduled tour or on short notice. Private visitors may drop by anytime during opening hours without an appointment. The Alida Hoeve is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Entrance free of charge.
